The Somali-Community Health
Somali Americans are considered to be among minority groups with three levels of disparity; ethnically, religiously and being newcomers to the melting-pot. Women in this group add another level to the minority disparity cascade. The challenges such community faces to access care, treatment and optimal outcome is enormous.

Educate & Empower
"To combat these disparities, advocates say health care professionals must explicitly acknowledge that race and racism factor into health care. This issue of Transforming Care offers examples of health systems that are making efforts to identify implicit bias and structural racism in their organizations, and developing customized approaches to engaging and supporting patients to ameliorate their effects"
